Menopause Without Borders

A Medea Health Global Initiative to generate the first evidence base for culturally responsive menopause care, beginning with phase 1: Georgia.

Phase 1: Georgia 2026 Survey

Menopause in Georgia — 2026

First study of Georgian women’s menopause experiences in Georgia and the diaspora

Study on Menopause in Georgia — Phase 1 of a Global Initiative

This study has been reviewed by an independent institutional review board (IRB) and classified as exempt, low‑risk, anonymous survey research under U.S. federal regulation 45 CFR 46.104(d)(2).

The study strictly adheres to medical ethics standards. All participant responses are fully anonymous and securely protected, and no identifying information is collected.

Data from this study will be used solely to advance women’s health and to improve menopause‑related services and care for Georgian‑speaking women.

The Purpose of the Study and Direct Benefits for Georgian Women

Ending Medical Invisibility
For the first time in history, we will have real, scientific data on how Georgian women navigate menopause. This research breaks the silence and ensures their voices are represented in the global medical community.

Culturally Tailored Education
A direct translation of American or European guidelines is not enough. The data gathered will allow us to create educational resources and management strategies specifically tailored to Georgian women, honoring our unique culture, diet, and lifestyle.

Driving Systemic Change
This is not just a survey. The evidence-based data collected will be used to advocate for improved clinical practices and guidelines—both in Georgia and across the diaspora. Our goal is to provide doctors and patients with accurate information to establish a better standard of healthcare.

Advancing Preventive Medicine
The data will help us better understand the specific health risks (cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome) that emerge during menopause within the Georgian population, allowing us to develop more effective, prevention-focused approaches.

Leadership & Vision

Dr. Ketevan Shavliashvili, MD, MBA, PhD (C)
Founder of Medea Health | Head of Menopause Without Borders | Lead Author

Dr. Ketevan Shavliashvili is a New York-based physician-scientist, healthcare entrepreneur, and the founder of Medea Health. As a twice Harvard-certified specialist in midlife and menopause medicine and a PhD Candidate in Clinical and Translational Medicine, her expertise bridges precision functional medicine, epigenetics, and women’s health during menopause.

Recognizing the global deficit of culturally responsive medical data in menopause management, she created the initiative Menopause Without Borders. Through its inaugural study, Menopause in Georgia 2026, Dr. Shavliashvili leverages her international clinical experience to generate the first evidence base of Georgian women's specific menopause needs. The direct benefit of this research is translating the collected data into practical action—creating culturally tailored educational resources and driving evidence-based standards of care for a demographic that has historically been overlooked by the healthcare system.
